A 17-year-old boy was killed when a pickup truck he was a passenger in flipped over Tuesday night on a Park County road west of Grant.
The teen, who was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the 1997 Chevrolet Silverado, was pronounced dead at the scene on County Road 58. His name has not been released.
The Colorado State Patrol says the pickup was driven by an 18-year-old who lost control about 6 p.m. while trying to follow a right-hand curve in the roadway.
The pickup rolled, authorities say, when the teen overcorrected and traveled off the side of the road. The driver, who was also not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle two.
The 18-year-old driver and two other passengers were taken to a Denver-area hospital with unspecified injuries.
“Neither alcohol nor excessive speed are suspected in this crash,” the State Patrol said. “However, the crash is still under investigation.”
