Carrie Fisher has canceled her planned appearance at the 2016 , organizers announced on Wednesday.
The “Star Wars” icon, who reprised her role as Leia Organa in last year’s was a hotly anticipated guest when she was , partly because she’s know for shooting from the hip in interviews.
“Carrie Fisher’s shooting schedule on the upcoming ‘Star Wars Episode 8’ film now conflicts with her scheduled appearance at Denver Comic Con June 17-19, 2016,” publicist Jason Jansky posted on Facebook. “As a result, she will be unable to attend the Denver event.”
“Denver Comic Con is sorry to learn that Carrie won’t be joining us this year,” Denver Comic Con director Christina Angel said on the same page. “She’ll be missed here this summer, but, we couldn’t be happier that she’ll be in the next installment of the Star Wars saga.”
Other already-announced Denver Comic Con 2016 guests include Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee, “Gotham” star Robin Lord Taylor, “Star Trek’s” Karl Urban and comics industry veteran and historian Trina Robbins, who was on a “flash panel” assembled by attendees and embraced by organizers last year in response to titled “Women in Comics: Creators and Characters.”
Fans have been disappointed in the past due to cancellations of other previously announced Denver Comic Con guests, including (2013) and “Star Trek: The Next Generation” co-star (2012), although organizers have usually been able to replace with them equally notable names, such as .
This year’s event takes place June 17-19 at the Colorado Convention Center and its expected to draw more than 100,000 attendees.
