Doctor’s orders
It’s never a good idea to keep expired or unused prescriptions around the house, but what do you do with them? It’s National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on April 30, offering an opportunity to safely discard them for free. (If you can believe it, some companies charge for disposal.) Bring any over-the-counter or prescription medication for proper disposal to any one of the drop-off sites throughout the Front Range from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Needles & sharps, mercury thermometers, oxygen containers, chemotherapy/radioactive substances and pressurized canisters cannot be accepted. If you’re looking for a little pick-me-up for little money, stop by McDonald’s through May 9. The fast-food chain is offering a small smoothie or Frappé for just $1.25 at participating locations. For the smoothie, choose from mango, pomegranate or strawberry-banana. For the Frappé, sip on caramel, chocolate chip or mocha. Purple party
Celebrate the life of music legend Prince by seeing his iconic film “Purple Rain” again. Through May 5, AMC Theatres is bringing back the 80’s hit to the big screen. Afternoon delight
Starbucks is making springtime afternoons a little cooler with its Happy Hour promo. From May 3 to 15, the ubiquitous café is offering 50 percent off any Frappuccino from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. It’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy its back-by-popular-demand S’mores Frappuccino. The coffee shop is also whipping up its Birthday Cake Frappuccino for a limited time. Starbucks Rewards Gold members get an extra hour to sip on the frozen treat from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. As an added bonus, Gold members also get early access to the sweet offer now through May 2 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
