MONTPELIER, Vt. — Some Vermont lawmakers are making a last-minute bid to resurrect marijuana legalization.
The issue appeared to have stalled in the House, but the Senate attached legalization to another bill that the House is expected to debate late Monday.

If the bill passes, Vermont would be the first state to legalize marijuana by legislation. Others states that have legalized have done so by referendum.
House Speaker Shap Smith, who supports legalization, says he doesn t think it has the votes to pass in the House.
He says he d rather see advocates keep working to win support and bring it back next year. As for now, Smith says, It s not completely baked yet.
