A woman who ran for a seat on the Denver City Council pleaded guilty Monday to one count of attempt to influence a public servant.
The Denver district attorney’s office dropped other charges of forgery and perjury in exchange for her guilty plea.
Corrie Houck, 45, was from registered voters, including some who were dead, and listing “Sesame Street” characters.
The Denver Elections Division caught the fake signatures when trying to verify the petitions to get Houck’s name on the election ballot.
According to the Denver district attorney’s office, Houck has been sentenced to a two-year deferred judgment sentence with supervised probation, and was ordered to complete 50 hours of community service.
