A 76-year-old man, stopped on a highway and outside of his vehicle, was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in Eagle County.
The incident happened at about 4 a.m. Thursday on Colorado 131, according to a Colorado State Patrol media release.
Investigator’s believe Thomas Landauer was in the roadway, outside his 2001 Toyota pickup truck, when he was hit in the northbound lane.
He died at the scene. The reason Landauer was outside his vehicle is unknown.
The vehicle which hit Landauer is likely a larger SUV or pickup truck, with minor to moderate front-end damage, including a broken headlight.
