Junior midfielders Ryan McNamara and Andy DeMichiei combined for seven goals Thursday as second-seeded Marquette beat Villanova 14-9 and advanced to Saturday’s championship game of the Big East men’s lacrosse tournament at the University of Denver’s Peter Barton Stadium.

The Golden Eagles improved to 10-4 overall less than a week after falling 14-11 to DU on the same field in the showdown for the Big East’s regular-season title. Both teams came into that game 4-0 in league play.

McNamara, from Eagan, Minn., had four goals and an assist for Marquette on Thursday. DeMichiei, from Pittsburgh, scored three times. Tanner Thomson, Conor Gately and John Wagner each had two goals for the Eagles, who never trailed in the first game of the semifinals doubleheader.

Devin McNamara and Joey Froccaro each scored three goals for third-seeded Villanova, which fell to 9-5 overall.
