Weld County authorities are investigating after a body was found in a burning sports utility vehicle along a busy highway near the town of Nunn.
The discovery was made about 9:45 p.m. on Wednesday on U.S. 85 not far from the Wyoming border, the county sheriff’s office said.
The SUV was fully engulfed in flames when first responders arrived.
One person inside the SUV was declared dead about 10:30 p.m., the sheriff’s office said.
“The Weld County Sheriff’s Office is launching an investigation into the cause of the incident,” authorities said in a news release. “More details will be released as they become available.”
Authorities say there is no public safety threat linked to the blaze.
