A Denver jury convicted a man of murder in the 2014 death of his wife.

Robert Perez, 41, was found guilty of first-degree murder on Friday after a two-week trial in Denver District Court, according to a news release from the Denver District Attorney’s office that was distributed on Monday.

Jurors deliberated for two hours before delivering their verdict.

Dennielle Leichtle’s body was found on Aug. 20, 2014, at her home in the 19000 block of east 45th Avenue. Perez claimed that his wife’s death was a suicide.

Perez faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole.

He is scheduled to be sentenced on at 1:30 p.m. on June 2.
