Nuggets center Nikola Jokic and point guard Emmanuel Mudiay kept the first-year accolades coming on Thursday afternoon.
Jokic was named to the NBA All-Rookie first team, while Mudiay was named to the All-Rookie second team. It is the second consecutive year the Nuggets have had at least one player on one of the teams.
The full All-Rookie first team consisted of Minnesota’s Karl-Anthony Towns, New York’s Kristaps Porzingis, Jokic, Philadelphia’s Jalil Okafor and Phoenix’s Devin Booker.
The second team featured: Mudiay, L.A. Lakers D’Angelo Russell, Sacramento’s Willie Cauley-Stein, Miami’s Justise Winslow and Indiana’s Myles Turner.
The Nuggets were the only team to have two players appear in the total group of 10 players.
Jokic, who was the 41st pick in the 2014 draft, quickly blossomed into one of the NBA’s top rookies, ranking among the top 10 first-year players in points (10.0), rebounds (7.0), steals (0.99), efficiency (15.5), offensive rebounds (2.3), field goal percentage (.512), free throw percentage (.811), and minutes (21.7). He played in 80 games, second only on the Nuggets to teammate Will Barton’s 82.
Meanwhile, Nuggets guard Emmanuel Mudiay finished seventh in the voting. Mudiay, selected seventh in last season’s NBA Draft, led all rookies in assists (5.5) along with averages of 12.8 points and 3.4 rebounds. Mudiay improved as the season progressed. In April, Mudiay averaged 18.8 points on 45.9 percent shooting overall and 35.7 percent from the 3-point line.
