A known Greeley gang member was sentenced to 30 years in prison for his role in beating a man to death in 2013.

Domingo Salazar, 22, was sentenced on Monday, according to a news release from the Weld County District Attorney’s office that was distributed Friday.

Salazar pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree murder for his role in the death of Gumercindo “Carlos” Munoz.

Salazar is one of six defendants charged in Munoz’ death.

Greeley police officers found Munoz’s body in his home at 2127 5th St. on Aug. 15, 2013. Investigators later learned that Salazar and the other defendants confronted Munoz at his home about an incident with his girlfriend.

The group beat Munoz to death with a club with spikes protruding from the end, according to the release.

Two co-defendants in the case have pleaded guilty and have been sentenced.

Noel Garcia, 22, pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree murder and one count of violating the Colorado Organized Crime Control Act. Both charges are Class 2 felonies.

Garcia was sentenced to 50 years in the Department of Corrections.

Joel Dominguez, 20, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 48 years in prison.
