A driver southbound on South Wadsworth Boulevard Thursday afternoon allegedly collided with several vehicles along a one-mile stretch of road.

The collisions happened at about 2:30 p.m. on a stretch of Wadsworth from West Belleview Avenue to West Cross Drive, according to the State Patrol and Lakewood police.

Two or three people suffered minor injuries and were taken to a hospital, said Ty Countryman, a Lakewood police spokesman.

Lakewood police handled the multiple accidents north of West Crestline Avenue and the State Patrol handled the accidents south of Crestline.

Chad Richardson, 36, of Centennial was cited for careless driving, said Trooper Alisha Danko, a State Patrol spokeswoman.

Richardson, who was driving a red 1997 Ford pickup, clipped or hit about a dozen vehicles, officials said.

The cause of the incident, which tied up traffic in the area, remains under investigation.

Investigators do not suspect that drugs or alcohol played a role.
