A man trying to steal several items from a Home Depot in Golden pulled a gun on employees who tried to stop him, police said. The suspect was arrested a short time later.
The incident happened at about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at 16900 W. Colfax Ave., according to Golden police.
When the thief pulled a gun as he tried to leave the store with several items, which he hadn’t paid for, employees backed off. The man fled in a gray truck.
A Golden officer spotted the vehicle, stopped it and took the driver into custody after a short struggle, police said.
Police identified the suspect as Aaron Carson Cheek, 26, of Golden. He was held on suspicion of aggravated robbery and resisting arrest. Cheek was booked at the Jefferson County Jail, where he is being held in lieu of a $10,000 bail.
