Denver grand jury indicts 17 people accused of running a meth and heroin ring

Multiple felonies — including solicitation to commit murder and sexual assault — were filed against members of the group.

A Denver grand jury has indicted 17 people accused of running a methamphetamine and heroin ring in west Denver.

The 46-count indictment includes felony counts of solicitation to commit murder, assault, kidnapping, sexual assault, robbery and intimidating a witness, according to a news release Monday from the Denver district attorney’s office. The 17 suspects are also accused of violating Colorado’s Organized Crime Control Act.

The group allegedly distributed meth and heroin from several Denver houses. They are also accused of committing other crimes to protect and continue running the drug ring, according to the news release.

The indictment listed charges for Raquel Avila, 20; Edgar Barroso, 30; Anthony Gonzales, 25; Steven Hillen, 18; Eugenio Juarez, 24; Rachel Kautz, 32; Emilio Masias, 25; Steven Miramontes, 24; Sara Montes, 24; Eulices Murillo, 32; Aryana Oliver, 36; Leroy Oliver, 51; Eric Pinedo, 22; Juvenal Tamayo, 35; Carlos Tizando, 20; John Vega, 33; and 31-year-old Pedro Valdez.

Most of the defendants are in custody with bonds ranging from $75,000 to $500,000, according to the release. Many members of the alleged ring will appear in Denver District Court on Thursday.
