
Northglenn police found a woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds early Monday after responding to reports that her ex-boyfriend was trying to break into her home and had fired a gun.
The shooting happened about 12:15 a.m. at a home on the 500 block of East 116th Avenue, where officers found the wounded woman in a bedroom.
“Responding officers observed the suspect leaving the home on a black motorcycle,” police said in a news release. “Officers pursued the suspect to the exit ramp from southbound (Interstate 25) to 84th Avenue, where he crashed.”
The suspect, whose name was not released, suffered serious injuries in the wreck and was taken to a nearby hospital, authorities say.
“Officers recovered a handgun at the crash scene,” the release said.
The woman wounded in the shooting was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
