Clouds will increase along the Front Range on Tuesday before there will be scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms, forecasters say.
The chance for rain is 40 percent, mostly after 3 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.
“I don’t think we’ll see the great big hail we saw on Monday, but there is a chance for small hail,” said Nazette Rydell, NWS meteorologist.
On Monday, hail the size of golf balls pounded areas of Douglas County, including Highlands Ranch. Other areas got pea-size hail, Rydell said.
The high will reach 83 degrees Tuesday. The low Tuesday night will be about 57.
Through the rest of the week, the chance for rain gradually diminishes, with a 20 percent chance Wednesday and a 10 percent chance Thursday and Friday, according to the NWS.
Some of the storms could generate gusty winds. Temperatures will rise to about 86 degrees on Wednesday and 87 on Thursday.
By Friday the temperature could reach 90 degrees, with a slight chance for showers in the afternoon.
“It’s summer,” Rydell said.
Temperatures will then taper off over the weekend and on Monday, dropping from 86 degrees on Saturday to 79 degrees on Monday. Afternoon showers and thunderstorms are expected after noon each of those days.
