The Cherry Creek School District closed at least two schools in Aurora on Monday after severe weekend storms flooded the buildings.
and each posted messages on their respective school websites warning of the flooding-fueled closures.
“The flooding has impacted multiple areas of the school, and crews are working to address the damage,” school district officials wrote on Overland High School’s website.
Highline Community Elementary School officials said the building was closed Monday for staff to thoroughly clean and sanitize.
“We recognize the challenges this may create for families and truly appreciate your patience and understanding as we prepare Highline to safely welcome our students,” Highline officials wrote.
Both schools will be fully closed on Monday. Limited students — first and second graders at Highline and ninth graders at Overland — will return Tuesday, and classes will resume for all students on Wednesday, according to the school district.
