Golden police have identified a 55-year-old Golden woman who died Tuesday in a four-vehicle pileup on Interstate 70.
The victim, Nancy Gail Courtright, a resident of the city’s Applewood area, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said Wednesday.
Three passenger vehicles and one semi-truck were involved in the crash, according to a news release.
The cause of the crash and the involvement of the drivers of the cars and the semi-truck has not been determined. At this time, no charges have been filed.
The driver of the semi-truck, a 41-year-old California man with a valid commercial license, voluntarily consented to and was given a blood test, the release said.
He was released pending the outcome of the investigation, which will include a mechanical inspection of the truck by the State Patrol’s Motor Carrier Unit.
The crash happened near mile marker 261 on westbound I-70, west of U.S. 6 at 4:16 p.m. Tuesday.
All westbound lanes were closed until about 9 p.m., according to the release.
An autopsy of Courtright determined the cause of death to be multiple blunt force injuries.
