Re: “” June 5 news story.

It was with great pleasure that I read your balanced reporting about the new and improved Jefferson County school board.

After your numerous editorials condemning the recall election, it is encouraging to see The Post publishing an article recognizing that the citizens involved did, in fact, know what was best for their community. Although there are still important issues to be decided, what a relief to know they will be decided on their merits and not according to a majority’s political ideology.

It is impossible to please an entire population, but the former board was trying very hard to alienate an entire community. How sweet it is to know those times are past.

The Post is correct in its assessment that the current peace and tranquility currently existing within the Jefferson County school board is the direct result of last year’s recall election. The teachers union is back in charge. Teachers, administrators and the media types that support them are back in their “safe space.”

Teachers have long been aware of their ability to influence the voting public (they’re teachers, for crying out loud) into electing board members who are ex-teachers and others sympathetic to their unions and their teacher-centric causes.

For a shining moment, it appeared that Jeffco was on a path to put students and parents first and not teachers’ wages, benefits and favorable work rules.

Your article amounted to nothing more than a reprint of a Jeffco teachers union press release. Of course everyone is “happy” now that they have a board that is compliant to the teachers union’s needs and wants vs. the needs of the students. And letap not forget the deception of the union, which actually was behind the recall process while publicly claiming it was not.

As long as the status quo is maintained in public education, where teachers unions run school boards, this nation will continue to see the decline in the quality of public education. But I guess as long as first and foremost the unions are “happy,” that is what counts most.
