The Blue Angels flight demonstration team returned to the skies Thursday morning. The team had stopped its operations after a crash this month that killed .

The Navy team announced its return in a tweet, saying “We are back!”

the Blue Angels streamed over Pensacola, Fla., about 9:30 a.m. Thursday.

The Blue Angels had been grounded since the June 2 crash near Nashville, Tenn., that killed  as the team was practicing for an airshow. He is survived by his wife and two young children.

Kuss was remembered .

The Air Force’s Thunderbirds demonstration team resumed flying June 7 after in Colorado Springs after a performance at the Air Force Academy’s graduation on the same day as Kuss’ death.

Maj. Alex Turner, the pilot in the Colorado crash, ejected from his plane and walked away without serious injury.

Both crashes remain under investigation.
