A heat wave will push temperatures to the upper 90s by Sunday, forecasts say.
Moderate winds mostly from the south and southwest the next several days will keep the high temperatures at 90 or above through the weekend, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.
“Hopefully people stay hydrated and out of the sun during the heat of the day,” meteorologist Natalie Gusack said.
It will be sunny with a high of about 90 degrees on Thursday. It will be moderately breezy with gusts up to 16 mph. The low Thursday night will be around 56 degrees.
The high temperature will creep upwards to 91 degrees on Friday, 94 on Saturday and 98 on Sunday, forecasters predict.
“It looks like the temperatures will be pretty hot, up to 97 and 98 on Sunday in Denver county,” Gusack said.
On Monday, temperatures will drop back into the 80s.
There is a slight chance for rain and thunderstorms Monday night and Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the NWS.
The high will be around 87 on Monday and Tuesday and 89 on Wednesday.
