Toll charges will begin July 12 on the new Interstate-25 Express Lanes between U.S. 36 and 120th Avenue, transportation officials announced Thursday.
The Express Lanes and the tolls have been waived since then to allow drivers to learn how to use the lane and sign up for an ExpressToll pass if they didn’t have one already. Colorado Department of Transportation also used the time to test equipment.

“Based on the success of our Express Lanes, we anticipate the North I-25 Express Lanes will be successful in managing traffic congestion on this busy corridor,” said David Spector, director of the High Performance Transportation Enterprise, which oversees toll collection.
The base toll rate for ExpressToll pass holders will be between $1 and $3. Without a pass, drivers will pay the toll plus an additional fee to cover the increased costs of processing the transaction. without an Express Pass range from $3 to $6.
