Getting your player ready...

One might not think that with a special beard comes perks. One probably hasn’t met longtime Ride The Rockies rider Paul Svendsen and his foot-and-a-half-long, gray-brown viking beard.

“I’ve gotten a shot, a beer or two,” Svendsen said. “I get to the front of the line at the bar.”
Svendsen’s 3-year-old beard, which he has not named, also comes with challenges.

“You’d be amazed at how many people think it’s OK to run up and touch it,” he said.

Other challenges are more easily overcome, Svendsen said.

“I’m getting better at not dipping it in soup and not zipping it up.”
