The Colorado Avalanche released its 2016-17 schedule Tuesday.

The schedule features the latest start (Oct. 15) in franchise history. The previous latest start in Avalanche/Nordiques history was Oct. 11, 1984.

The home opener, announced Monday, will be against the Dallas Stars at the Pepsi Center. The Avs’ first road game of the season, part of a four-game East Coast swing, is against the Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins on Oct. 17.

The Avs have 30 games within the Central Division and 20 games against Pacific Division opponents. They will also face the Eastern Conference 32 times — home and away against each Eastern team.

Colorado will play on back-to-back days 11 times, including the final two games of the season on April 8-9 in Dallas and St. Louis. The Avs also have three five-day breaks built into the schedule, Oct. 23-27, Jan. 7-11 and Jan 26-30 for the all-star weekend.

The Avs will play 17 home “weekend” games, including five Friday night games, nine Saturday games and three Sunday games.
