
A large influx of college-educated workers, strong job growth and low unemployment helped Colorado place No. 3 on this year’s list of , according to a CNBC-produced business climate study released Tuesday.

Coming behind Texas and top-seeded Utah overall, Colorado ranked first nationally in workforce and second in economy. It also made the top 10 in technology and innovation, business friendliness and access to capital. The Centennial State’s worst category was cost of doing business, for which it ranked No. 37.
The survey, in its 10th year, scores states on more than 60 measures through publicly available data. Here’s how Colorado did :

- Economy: 288/340; No. 2
- Quality of life: 219/325; No. 12

- Business friendliness: 99/160; No. 9
- Cost of living: 29/75; No. 32
- Access to capital: 43/50; No. 8
- Total: 1,555/2,500; No. 3
The state ranked No. 4 in behind Minnesota, Texas and Utah.
