The 18th Judicial District is looking for a new Arapahoe County judge to fill a post occupied by retiring Judge Addison Adams.

A nominating commission for the district will meet Aug. 26 at the Arapahoe County Justice Center, 7325 S. Potomac St., to interview and select nominees for appointment by Gov. John Hickenlooper. The judgeship, which will pay $152,466 annually, is scheduled to be filled Jan. 10.

To be eligible, an applicant must be an Arapahoe County voter and must have been admitted to the practice of law in Colorado for five years. The initial county judge term runs for two years and, if approved by the voters, can continue with a four-year term.
