Trevor Thomas, and fellow hiker Dean Krakel, came off the trail Wednesday due to health concerns for Tennille.

According to Thomas’ Facebook page, the hot weather and cloudless skies in the high country were hard on Tennille. “My utmost concern is always her safety, well being and enjoyment while on the trail,” he posted on Facebook.

Thomas has delayed plans to fly to California to thru-hike the John Muir Trail and climb in Yosemite National Park until fall.

The Collegiate Loop includes some of the highest terrain on the Colorado Trail.

Watch our video about Thomas’ special connection with Tennille, and how they navigate through life on the trail together.
