Reward for killers of Aurora dispensary guard now $30,000

The reward money has been increased for providing information tied to the people who killed a security guard during a robbery attempt at the Green Heart marijuana dispensary June 19, Aurora police said. It’s now $30,000.

Travis Mason, 24, died of a gunshot wound to the head when two men  at 19005 E. Quincy Ave.

Denver Metro Crime Stoppers has increased by $10,000  leading to arrest and conviction, police said in a release. Previously Crime Stoppers had offered $2,000.

The U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has offered up to $5,000 for information. Another $5,000, which includes $3,000 donated by Euflora, a neighboring dispensary, would come from the Aurora police reward fund. Shortline Automotive Group donated $8,000.

Mason began working at the dispensary two weeks before he died, and he was preparing to start a second job as a security guard in the evenings at a King Soopers store.

He was scheduled to test for a job with the Denver Police Department in July.

Mason  and was stationed in North Carolina, where he met his wife, Samantha.

The couple have 4-year-old twins and a 1-year-old boy. The family moved to Colorado after Mason recently was honorably discharged.
