Police identify man killed in possible Colorado Springs road rage shooting

Police have released the name of a man fatally wounded  late Friday.

Gerillermo Escobar-Torres, of El Paso County, died of a gunshot wound and his manner of death has been ruled a homicide, investigators say.

Escobar-Torres  Friday on Colorado 94, a few miles east of U.S. 24, by officers responding to reports of a shooting. He was rushed to a hospital but police say they were notified of his death Sunday night.

“The shooting victim was one of two drivers involved in a possible road rage incident,” police said in a news release.

Police say their investigation is focused on events that happened the night of the shooting between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. on eastbound Colorado 94 between Marksheffel and Blaney roads.

“Investigators learned a passerby may have rendered aid to the victim and would like that person or any witnesses to contact the Colorado Springs Police Department,” authorities say. “In addition, if anyone observed or has information pertaining to a green full-sized Toyota pickup and/or a four-door silver Volkswagen traveling or parked on eastbound (Colorado) 94 during this timeframe, (they) are also asked to call (police).”
