Every four years some city like Rio gets fooled into hosting the single most expensive sporting event in the world and often lives to regret that they did. Recreating the same facilities again and again is like building a new stadium every year for the Super Bowl and not having a team to use it afterwards. When Colorado聽rejected the 1976 Winter Games, it stunned the International Olympic Committee, but it won’t surprise anyone in the next decade or so when the Olympics simply can’t be afforded at all.
