Denver International Airport had the busiest first half of the year since it opened 21 years ago as more than 27.5 million passengers flocked through its gates, 6.8 percent more than in the first six months of 2015.

June was the airport’s busiest month to date as 5.2 million passengers flew through Denver, up 8.4 percent from 2015. It also marks the 10th consecutive month with traffic higher than the year before.

United Airlines was the busiest airline, accounting for 42 percent of passengers. Southwest Airlines and Frontier Airlines followed with 29 percent and 12 percent, respectively.

International passenger traffic in June increased 10 percent compared with last year, totaling 206,330 passengers. June was the first full month of and nonstop.
