Denver set a new Friday before a slight weekend cool-down and a chance of rain, according to the National Weather Service.
Thermometers at hit 100 degrees Friday afternoon, breaking the daily record high for Aug. 21 of 99 degrees last set in 2023.
DIA was not the only place to hit triple digits on Friday — across the Front Range and Eastern Plains also logged scorching temperatures, including 100 in Aurora, Broomfield, Boulder and Pueblo; 101 in Loveland and Sedalia; 102 in La Junta; 103 in Granada; and 104 in Rocky Ford.
Although the daily high is expected to drop a few degrees this weekend, temperatures across metro Denver are expected to reach the mid-90s, according to forecasters.
There’s a 50% chance of , mostly in the afternoon, and a 30% chance of storms and showers Sunday.
