A child has been taken into custody after being found Wednesday morning with an “apparent weapon” at a Denver school, police say.

Technician Raquel Lopez, a Denver police spokeswoman, said the incident happened on the 900 block of North Santa Fe Drive, but that she didn’t know the name of the school. However, ACE Community Challenge Charter School is on that block.

The school’s website says it serves the city’s most high-risk students who are in grades eight to 10.

Lopez said it “appears a student went to the school with what appeared to be a weapon.” She said school staff confronted the student and then called police.

No one was injured and the school was not placed on lockdown, police say.

“We do have a juvenile in custody,” Lopez said, adding that she didn’t know what kind of weapon the student had.
