Doubles, anyone?
Coupon clippers will not be happy about this news. For the frugal, double coupons has always been the cornerstone for big savings on groceries. King Soopers will end its long-time policy of doubling coupons on Aug. 23. In exchange, the grocery store promises to invest more resources in the world of digital coupons. Bargain hunters will want to stock up on the savings, while they still can, in the days ahead. King Soopers will continue to accept paper coupons — just at face value. Smart shoppers can find some relief as Safeway will — for now — continue to double coupons.
Hop to it
Dining out for budget-conscious families just got a little easier and cheaper. Through Sept. 25, kids eat for free at IHOP with the purchase of an adult entrée. The offer is available every day from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Limit one free kids meal per adult entrée at participating locations. Plus, kids must be 12 or younger and choose from the Just For Kids menu. Children can enjoy favorites, such as macaroni and cheese, pancakes, pizza and more.
Bargain booze
What better to wash down a huge burrito than with one of summer’s favorite beverages? Every day through Sept. 30, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Chipotle Mexican Grill is serving a 2-for-1 margarita or beer at participating locations. The margaritas are made-to-order using Patrón Silver tequila, triple sec, organic agave nectar and a blend of fresh lime/lemon juices. Each location also serves a variety of bottled beers. (Some locations do not serve alcohol, so be sure to check before making dinner plans.) Remember to join Chipotle’s summer loyalty program, Chiptopia, for more offers and rewards, which also runs through the end of September.
Culture club
On Sept. 24, expand your mind, not your wallet, during Smithsonian Museum Day Live! This year, the annual event offers free entry to 16 museums throughout Colorado — just request a ticket online. Reservations are now open, but limited. Each ticket is good for complimentary admission for two at a participating museum. Among the Colorado options are many favorites, including Byers-Evans House Museum, History Colorado Center, Denver Museum of Miniatures, Dolls and Toys and more. Limit one ticket per household. If you’re planning on going as a group, register for additional tickets via friends and family.
