Pueblo County’s coroner says autopsies on two young sisters and their babysitter confirm their deaths were a result of drowning.

The coroner, Brian Cotter, said “it was accidental.”

Authorities have identified the three victims as 3-year-old Azucena Gandarilla, 6-year-old Amaya Gandarilla and 17-year-old Joo Lee. Police say Joo was a “sitter” for the younger girls and that she was watching the pair at the time of the drowning.

Officers responding Monday afternoon to reports of a drowning at Pueblo Grande Village at 999 Fortino Blvd. , but efforts of first responders came too late.

Police say they are investigating what led up to the drownings. Investigators have not said exactly how they believe the three ended up in the pool.
