State troopers believe alcohol and speed were factors in a single-vehicle crash late Sunday in Clear Creek Canyon that left one person dead and two people injured.
Colorado State Patrol Trooper Tim Sutherland said the wreck happened on U.S. 6 about 10:15 p.m. in the highway’s eastbound lanes. A vehicle with three people inside rolled down an embankment and nearly into Clear Creek.

The vehicle’s driver, identified only as a male, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a seat belt.
The two others in the car were hurt, one with what authorities believe to be serious injuries.
