Getting your player ready...

FORT COLLINS — As the Rams practiced at Hughes Stadium on Wednesday morning, Colorado State released photos of the team’s new Under Armour, form-fitting football uniforms.

The Rams can wear various combinations of green and white jerseys, and green or gold pants.

CSU and Under Armour have been partners since 2012 and a long-term extension of the former deal began in July.

“I was excited that we got the deal, and I was excited that we were going to get new uniforms and upgraded our helmets,” said CSU coach Mike Bobo. “One of the first things when I got here, I thought we looked a little sloppy in our uniforms. They didn’t fit right.

“I think (the new uniforms) look great, they fit the guys.”

Bobo said the players were “excited” when they saw the designs. “I believe the players’ favorite was the green on green.” Bobo said linebacker Deonte Clyburn, who hasn’t yet been cleared to practice because of blood clot issues, modeled the green and green combination for his teammates. “I don’t think he wanted to take it off. He might have slept in his uniform last night.”

This all comes in a college football marketplace in which multiple combinations of uniforms — and some of them bordering on the garish — have become selling points to recruits and attention-getters.

Is too much made of uniforms?

“It is,” Bobo said. “But that’s the world we live in. There’s a team in Oregon that starts putting together a lot of uniforms and different kind of gear and facilities and the next thing you know, they’re a powerhouse. It matters. If we pretend like it doesn’t matter, then we can be left behind.”
