Two people were hurt seriously Wednesday morning when their motorcycle struck a deer that darted into their path in Fremont County west of Cañon City.
The State Patrol says the collision happened on U.S. 50 in the town of Howard.
“After impact, the motorcycle traveled off the right side of the roadway and started a clockwise rotation as it traveled across a gravel driveway,” the State Patrol said. “The motorcycle then rolled an unknown number of times before coming to final rest on its left side in (a) ditch. Both the driver and the passenger were ejected.”
The driver was identified as a 64-year-old Oklahoma man who was operating a 2014 Honda Gold Wing Trike motorcycle. His passenger was a 60-year-old Oklahoma woman. Both had serious injuries, according to the State Patrol.
Investigators say the driver and passenger were wearing helmets and appropriate motorcycle riding gear.
