Northglenn police are on the lookout for a man who carjacked several vehicles at knife-point Wednesday afternoon, crashing one before fleeing in another.
The trouble began around 1:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Best Buy, 104 W. 104th Ave., when officers received a report of a man trying to steal a vehicle. A witness said the suspect pulled a knife on him and tried to stab him when he attempted to intervene.
The witness told police he chased the suspect through the parking lot as the man attempted to break into other vehicles. Several other people called 911 to report that the suspect had crossed 104th Avenue into Northglenn Market Place, where he carjacked two vehicles at knife point. No one was injured.
As he was fleeing on westbound 104th Avenue, the suspect crashed into another vehicle at Melody Drive, police said. The accident victim received minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
Police said the man then fled on foot to the parking lot of a McDonald’s at 599 W. 104th Ave., where he stole a truck and continued west on 104th Avenue.
Police described the suspect as Latino with a short, dark-colored mohawk and wearing a black hoodie. He stands approximately 6-foot-0 and weighs 150 pounds.
The final vehicle in which he made his getaway was a white 2015 Dodge pickup with license plate QWM-516 and bearing the words “RMS Cranes” in red lettering on the doors and tailgate. Police are asking that anyone with information call 303-450-8859 or 303-450-8893.
