Ivanka Trump listens as her father, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, delivers a policy speech on child care Tuesday in Aston, Penn., on September 15, 2016.Re: Sept. 13 news story.
It has been said that great minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events, and small minds discuss people. After months of partisan bickering about people, it is refreshing to have an idea that will not only assist working mothers, but effectively increase the take-home pay for tens of millions of American workers. Donald Trump’s child care plan will:
- Provide tax deductions for child care expenses for both working mothers and stay-at-home parents;
- Provide dependent-care savings accounts to offset child care expenses as well as care for elderly dependents;
- Apply to “informal child care” where a mother is watching her kids and a few others during traditional work hours and non-traditional “night shift” hours; and
- Provide incentives for employers to provide child care at the workplace.
As an independent voter searching for solutions to real problems, this idea is indeed a breath of fresh air.
