Re: Sept. 10 Perspective article.
Contrary to your one-sided article, there’s strong support for oil and natural gas development in the White River National Forest.
The Post spotlighted only one side of the story, focusing on the Thompson Divide Coalition, which was formed and funded by environmental activists and Sen. Michael Bennet. It didn’t share the voice of the industry, Congressman Scott Tipton, or other officials and citizens who have a different viewpoint.
Had The Post contacted others, readers would have learned key facts, like that oil and natural gas has coexisted with recreation and agriculture in the area since 1947. A more balanced story would have informed readers that significant natural gas resources exist and can be responsibly developed while protecting the environment. Reducing an issue to just one side does not serve readers well.
