Fire crews were able to quickly knock down a wildland blaze that came close to homes in north Thornton on Friday afternoon, authorities say.

The burn began near 136th Avenue just west of Quebec Street at about 3 p.m. North Metro Fire Rescue says several agencies responded to the blaze.
Photos from the scene showed a large smoke plume billowing into the air. The blaze’s cause was not immediately known.

North Metro said two brush fire trucks will remain in the area through the night to monitor hot spots. All roads near scene were being reopened about 6:30 p.m.
No one was injured.
