When the Broncos run
C.J. Anderson has been the core of the Broncos’ offense over the first two weeks. The Broncos are averaging 141 rushing yards a game, fourth in the NFL. Denver’s run blocking has been a lot stronger than it was much of last season. The Bengals have been surprisingly weak against the run, giving up a league-high 138 rushing yards a game. Edge: Broncos
When the Bengals run
Cincinnati’s running game has been bad. It is averaging a pedestrian 51.5 rushing yards per game, second worst in the NFL, nearly 90 yards less than the Broncos. Bengals’ running backs Jeremy Hill and Giovani Bernard are talented enough to change the trend. Run defense might be the weakest part of Denver’s defense, but it should be able to hold the Bengals. When the Broncos pass
Trevor Siemian’s three interceptions haven’t cost the Broncos a game, but interceptions could bite them if they continue Sunday. The Bengals don’t have a dominant pass rushing group, but their secondary, with cornerbacks Adam Jones and Dre Kirkpatrick, are a solid duo. Denver might need to air it out a little more this week. Edge: Bengals
When the Bengals pass
Andy Dalton is coming off the best season of his career and playing well to start this year, connecting often with his top weapon, A.J. Green. The Bengals’ heavy pass-to-run ratio has led to them giving up eight sacks in the past two games. That’s pleasant news to Denver’s Von Miller, Derek Wolfe, Shane Ray and the Broncos’ other pass rushers. Edge: Broncos
Special teams
Adam Jones is a dangerous returner. Broncos special teams coach Joe DeCamillis said the Broncos will focus on neutralizing him. The Broncos nearly blocked two punts last week. Jordan Norwood is also averaging 13 yards per punt return. Edge: Broncos
