Authorities say human remains are those of a 74-year-old man who went missing in September 2013.

The county coroner’s office said the remains Roger Alfonso Vigil, of Loma, were found Oct. 11 off 16 Road northwest of Grand Junction.

“The cause and manner of death is pending at this time due to the condition of the remains,” the Mesa County Coroner’s Office said.

The case is under investigation by the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office. Further details were not released.
