I grew up in a small town in Colorado and for the first time in a long time, I am invested in an amendment that would actually benefit where I live.
Amendment 71 wants to give all of Colorado a voice when it comes to deciding what we, as a state, will be voting on in November. Colorado is a diverse state and that should be reflected in the process by which we decide what goes onto our ballot and what does not.
Rural Colorado has different needs, lifestyles and economies than Denver and Boulder. Often the metro area forgets this when they are signing petitions for things that could seriously impact the rest of the state.
Our voices deserve to have a say on what goes onto the ballot. Think of your neighbors around the state, not just next door. I will vote “yes” on Amendment 71, for the sake of rural Colorado.
