Interview with Patrick and Gwen McCarroll, owners
Q: How did you get involved in this business?
:We combined our longtime dream of having a music venue, coffeehouse, bar and restaurant into one community pub. We saw an opportunity and opened up in a small location in 2013 and moved to our current, larger spot in 2015.
Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?
:The fact that we have such a diverse offering and a community feel. We offer coffee and espresso drinks, smoothies, breakfast, pastries, panini and sandwiches, pizzas, soups and salads, ice cream and shakes, and a full beer, wine and cocktail bar. Our evenings of live music events, local business networking, talent shows, art events, sports events and much more all set us apart from every other cafe in the area.
Q: What do you like best about your line of work?
A: We love seeing how music brings people together and unplugs them from their over-connected lives for a while. We love that we can provide good food and drinks and a comfortable place at which to relax and enjoy some entertainment.
Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?
A: Getting the word out to the community that there is a music cafe in their neighborhood. This area has been without this type of place for a long time, so people need to discover us and get the feeling back.
Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:
A: That we are a mom-and-pop business that is thriving in a chain-driven industry. Also, we are much, much more than a coffeehouse alone. People are constantly and pleasantly surprised at all that we have to offer. We love that!
