A duck hunter was saved from “quicksand” Tuesday in the Simpson Ponds area southeast of Loveland, fire officials said.

Loveland Fire Rescue Authority crews pulled the hunter from the quagmire just before 8:30 a.m. after he called 911 for help, according to the fire department.

The victim was in mud up to his chest when firefighters used a rope to .

The fire authority reminds outdoor enthusiasts to be careful in wet, boggy areas and to avoid possible mud traps whenever possible.
