Re: Oct. 25 news story.

Uber partnered with the Colorado Department of Transportation, the Colorado State Patrol and Budweiser to drive an autonomous truck from Fort Collins to Colorado Springs, making the first commercial delivery by a self-driving truck. While on Interstate 25 the driver engaged the self-driving mode and observed the trip from the comfort of the truck’s sleeper area. The state of Colorado has no established parameters for examining or vetting autonomous technology.  All Uber had to do was convince CDOT and the CSP that it was a good idea to send a Class 8 truck down I-25 for 120 miles with the driver reposing in the sleeper compartment. While there is no doubt that CDOT and the CSP both employ very intelligent and capable individuals, I am not at all comfortable with the idea that these two agencies can make such huge decisions on their own that affect all Colorado drivers.
