Re: “,” Oct. 30 news story.

The Denver Post reported that Donald Trump questioned the integrity of Colorado’s election system at his recent Colorado rallies. As someone who has served as an election official and a poll watcher in Douglas County in several elections, I am deeply offended by these unfounded charges. When I was temporarily employed by the county to handle paper ballots at a precinct polling place in 2012, the training was thorough and the integrity of the system was paramount. All of my colleagues were impressive in their determination to provide every voter the right to vote, but only once. The system has numerous cross checks to ensure that. As a poll watcher for the Democratic Party in 2014 and now in 2016, I have had detailed training from both the secretary of state’s office and the party. Again, our mission is to ensure a fair election. Trump is simply and absolutely wrong to cast doubts about the conduct of the upcoming election here in Colorado.

Last week I drove to the polling center at Hiawatha Davis Jr. Recreation Center in Denver. There, a friendly election worker took my completed, sealed ballot at the curb, and I saw him drop it in the ballot box as I drove away. The next day I received an e-mail from the Denver Elections Division to inform me that my voted ballot had been received and accepted for counting. This e-mail confirmation was sent to me because I signed up for Ballot Trace. I have absolute confidence that my ballot will be counted and the results accurately reported.
