Several different county agencies are searching for a missing hunter near Meeker in Rio Blanco County. The hunter is a 61-year-old man from Michigan who went missing near Pagoda Lake. He was supposed to meet his partner for lunch on Saturday and has been missing since. The sheriff’s office declined to release his name.
The Rio Blanco County Search and Rescue, Meeker Fire and Rescue and Classic Air Medical Helicopter have been searching the area, but have yet to find the hunter, according to a release from the Rio Blanco Sheriff’s Office. On Sunday, county law enforcement used the Colorado Multi-Mission Aircraft (MMA) to search for him but were unsuccessful. The sheriff’s office has called on the Colorado National Guard and Colorado Search and Rescue dogs to help continue the search on Monday.
